Bikes, trikes, wagons, strollers and even a few joggers made their way down Lomond from Gridley Triangle to Sussex in the second year of the 4th of July Bike Parade. Did you know that three Lomond/Sussex moms put this event together? Leah Nowak, Allison Barnard and Melissa Kalan saw a video of parades from the 70s last year and decided to revive that tradition. Organizing, promoting and arranging all the details (including the Swenson’s and Hawaiian Ice food trucks).
Of course, they reached out to others to help make the day. Thanks go to Alyssa Porter, Lomond resident who works with Shaker Rec, for bringing lawn games. The Shaker firetruck and firefighters welcomed the riders to Sussex Triangle. And, of course, the SHPD provided the parade escort.
